Why We Love a Good Texas IPA

Local IPA

Hops and Houston Heat

Texas and IPAs might not seem like an obvious pairing. Most folks in the Lone Star State grew up on light lagers — something cold and easy that doesn't fight the heat. But the craft beer scene down here has exploded over the past decade, and local IPAs have carved out serious territory on our taps.

We rotate our IPA selection regularly, pulling from breweries within driving distance whenever we can. There's something about knowing the people who brew the beer that makes it taste a little better. And when a guest asks "what do you recommend?" — a well-made IPA is always in the conversation.

What Makes a Great IPA for Burger Lovers

Not all IPAs are created equal, especially when food is involved. The super bitter, piney west-coast styles can overwhelm your palate between bites. What we look for is balance — enough hop character to cut through the richness of a cheeseburger or a plate of queso, but enough malt backbone to keep things smooth.

The citrus-forward IPAs coming out of Texas right now are hitting that sweet spot. They bring grapefruit and tropical notes that pair beautifully with our Tex-Mex flavors without leaving your tongue feeling like it ran a marathon.

Ask Us What's Pouring

Our tap list changes, so the best way to find out what IPA we're serving is to ask. Our staff knows the lineup and can steer you toward the right pint for your meal. Whether you're a hop head or just IPA-curious, we've got something worth trying.
